Throwing the Perfect Bridal Shower
Throwing a bridal shower is a beautiful balance of combining your tastes with the bride’s personality. It’s a party that is guaranteed to be as unique and beautiful as the two of you combined! Whether you’re envisioning a shower that squeals white-frilliness, pink diamonds, and champagne or rumbles stormy grays, Black Velvets and chocolates…there’s a way to keep your vision and stay on budget.
Get Creative in the Kitchen
As a rule, the bridal shower is not an occasion where everyone has to leave bursting with food and drink. Let’s be honest…when you get a bunch of us gals together, we are usually too self-conscious to fill our plates and go back for seconds. With that psychology in mind, limit your menu to guarantee that each guest has enough nibbles to keep them satiated.
Simple tips:
- Quality over quantity! Give lots of love to simplified yet yummy foods.
- Stay away from clichés that don’t even taste good. Leave the cuke sandwiches for Queen Elizabeth, please!!
- Balance salty and sweet. Think chocolates and bruschetta or vanilla cupcakes and chicken sliders.
- Hide the faux pas of cheap alcohol with fanciness! We love this recipe for sorbet champagne floats on Pinterest!
Decor for the Limited Budget
The best way to keep to your budget is to find a venue that does not require tons of sprucing up. Brainstorm for beautiful parks nearby or family-friends who have lovely back porches or decorated living rooms that would let you use their homes. Your decor budget could be $0 if you choose wisely!
If you find yourself in need of decorations, my rule is to stick to flowers. Trader Joe’s is an excellent store where you can find beautiful flowers for cheap! Vases of all kinds can easily be snagged from local thrift stores.
Encouragement for the Bride-to-Be
Your friend is about to embark on a huge new chapter of her life. This shower is meant to encourage her and send her off! Yes good food and special presents are a part of that, but the most important aspect is to celebrate and encourage her!
An easy easy way to do this is to foster a time of conversation and affirmation:
- Go around and have everyone share why they think the bride is going to be an amazing wife.
- Let everyone share what they admire most about the bride.
- Allow guests to draw random questions from a hat, such as “What is your favorite memory with the bride?” and “What is the best piece of advice the bride has given you?”
By keeping the bride, your budget and the reason for the season in mind, you can throw a shower that reflects your love for the bride and even your personal taste. Make sure that LOVE is the bottomline of each choice…that is what really matters in the end!
